Spring is the traditional time to do a deep clean at home. Suddenly the longer days and brighter light shows up marks on windows and dust in corners so it is the ideal time to roll your sleeves up and get to work. Somethings are easier to clean than others however. Mirrors and windows are top of the list to be tricky so read on for our top tips to make a difficult job that bit easier.

How To Clean Windows In A Conservatory or Orangery

To wash your windows so that they show off your conservatory or orangery to the best possible effect, you will need a sponge, a bucket filled with warm water and vinegar or a glass cleaning solution, a dry microfiber cloth and a ideally a squeegee.

It is exactly the same procedure to clean the inside of a window as it is to clean the outside although there is usually much more dirt on the outside so it is a good idea to do the outside first. This way you will be able to see how good a job you are doing when you do the inside and look out. When you get to the inside, you will also want to take more care not to spill excess water around so some old towels on your window sills or floor are a good idea.

5 Steps to Cleaning Windows

  • First, remove any obvious dust from the window and window sill with a dry cloth.
  • Next, dip your sponge into the water and wash the window thoroughly, making sure to go into the corners of each pane of glass.
  • If you have a squeegee, this is an excellent way to get rid of excess water and is the next part of the process to get gleaming windows and a refreshed living environment.
  • The last step creates extra shine and ensures there are no streaks. Simply buff the glass with a piece of crumpled up newspaper.
  • Get a cuppa and admire the view.
