When Wendy Shadwell wanted a new orangery she struggled to find a company that could interpret her own bespoke design ideas, “ I went to several companies but none of them were able to translate my ideas in to a design. It seemed that I had to have a standard fixed design which isn’t what I wanted. I wanted a bespoke orangery.”

She then visited Croft’s showroom in Preston and spoke to John Croft who designed the perfect orangery for her, “John really listened and took the time to understand my brief. The design was just what I wanted. Croft have an excellent reputation for conservatories and orangeries and by looking at examples in the showroom and pictures of orangeries and conservatories Croft have recently done, I came up with the perfect design.”

Croft’s team then built the orangery on her house in Walton Park, Preston and Wendy was delighted with their professionalism and attention to detail. “The team were brilliant,” says Wendy, “so efficient and they made the build totally stress free for us.”

Wendy wanted an open plan kitchen and living space and needed a seamless transition between the kitchen and orangery. This was achieved and Wendy can’t believe how much they now use their new orangery, “we practically live in it. It is the perfect family space. When it is sunny I open the doors to the garden and in winter it is the perfect cosy space. John ensured the glass used kept the space cool in summer and warm in winter which is ideal.”

Wendy’s kitchen/orangery has featured in several lifestyle magazines and has been admired by many family and friends who are also considering opening up their homes with a similar open plan kitchen/orangery combination.

What has amazed Wendy and her friends is just how perfect the orangery is in the day and at night. “we obviously use the orangery in the day but at night it is transformed in to the most amazing space. The lighting scheme John designed for us makes it gorgeous at night – great for entertaining or for us to enjoy the room as a family.”

Since using Croft to design and build her orangery Wendy has recommended them to several friends and has had them back to do more work including window and patio door installations.
